ICBC - Horrible!

by Stephan on Aug 26, 2016
1 out of 5 stars

NEVER ever deal with them if you can choose otherwise. This is the worst government company that was set up in the history of mankind. If you have the misfortune to have to deal with them, I'd say get ready for the worst experience of your life.
They will basically extort money from you in every possible way without showing anything from it. Any conversation with customer service or representatives is reduced to "You have to PAY us big, deal with it"
I know this is a bit generic, but I am summing up all my experiences I had along the years with them. I had fender benders (both my fault and 3rd party). Everytime I had to pay big money to ..., you guessed, ICBC.
Insurance company should not be forced upon and shoved down your throat like nazi Germany. Everybody should be able to choose their own insurance company. I totally agree that everyone should be insured, but not by money thirtsy, greedy zealots. Not only that, but they make you feel miserable on any and every occasion they get a chance.
HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE. Can't state enough how ICBC should just desist from doing any kind of business. If ICBC would have to compete with ANY insurance company they will be bankrupt within a few days.

No rock chip repair at ICBC

by Wiley on Aug 26, 2016
1.5 out of 5 stars

I got a rock chip on my windshield so I went to my local autoglass company to have it fixed before the chip became a cracked windshield. Most insurers cover the cost of a chip repair to save having to replace the windshield.
Not ICBC, they wanted me to pay $200 deductible to fix the chip which ended up costing me just $55 out of pocket. The advice from the ICBC claims rep Jeff was pay the $200 deductible and get a new windshield because they will not pay for rock chip repair.
And now they want to put our rates up another 4%.

Very bad experience

by four_years_customer on Aug 15, 2016
1.5 out of 5 stars

I have been with ICBC for over 4 years! Recently I had a question which could probably only take 5 seconds of an ICBC agent's time. I called ICBC and they put me on hold for over 45 minutes, after more than 45 minutes an agent picked up the phone and in 1 second disconnected the call! I pay over 2500$ per year for very basic coverage at ICBC, never had a single claim before and now that I need their help while traveling in the States, there is no one in this insurance company who pick up the phone and answer a simple question! ICBC is terrible and the reason is no competition in BC.

Hit & run

by hibbs on Jul 19, 2016
1 out of 5 stars

my car was backed into my own driveway, i was hit and run. i pay for collision on my car. and someone smashed up all entire front bumper and grill, i called icbc and they said if it happens in a private driveway there is nothing i can do to fix this. i would have to pay for all the damage myself when someone else hit me. Why are we paying for collision when we still have to pay in the end.
I'm not happy with icbc an I'm glad ill be moving out of BC. I pay big money for what ???? Done with these stupid people that don't have the decency see to tell me they hit me. this has to come out of my own pocket, when i wasn't at fault.

ICBC shop, bad mistake

by poor quality work on Jul 6, 2016
1 out of 5 stars

I used an ICBC approved auto repair to do the replacement of a rear bumper of my 2005 Dodge Van. Staff were friendly until after I signed the paperwork . I drove home and got out of the van to check the repair as I opened the rear hatch the rubber seal all across the bumper was pulled off ( the integrity of the seal was totally intact prior to repair). I closed the hatch and took the the van back to the repair shop and pointed the damage out top the estimator. He look at it and said "we don't have to take the seal off to replace the bumper , I said "so I am supposed to fix this myself" He said yes and walked away. the alignment of the bumper was out by 3/4" and still loose. I am not happy with CB's AutoTech Collision & Repair Centre Ltd., 2804 Rock Bay Ave, Victoria, BC, V8T 4S1.

Huge scam

by NSF on Jun 21, 2016
1 out of 5 stars

I'm grossly shameful about ICBC. They're a huge scam. I wonder how this company trying to rip off the their clients. They charged me for NSF and try to explain the situation between me and my bank but they don't even tried to hear me. And I don't even remember that I signed a specific terms pertaining to NSF. This people are evil. I hope they will be the first one in line going to hell. I'm puking myself for their evilness. I can't imagine how they can sleep well at night thinking they're trying to rip off their clients. What a shameful insurance company. They're evil.

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

Cindy rocks- Sechelt

by Andrea Tiffany on May 21, 2016
5 out of 5 stars

I needed to insure my brothers truck to clean out his home. He passed away last week and I am his executor. I brought in a copy of the will and a copy of the death certificate to Cindy, plus my own ID. Because she is forced to deal with computers and not human beings, the process got bogged down pretty quickly, but she persevered. It took an hour of diligent effort on her part and that of one of her co-workers on site, also, a (human) person on the phone but finally, I was able to walk out of there with the decals that I need to use the truck. Personally, I would have wanted to give up and tell me to go away, but she was friendly and encouraging and she won the day for me. So- brava Cindy and thank you.

Dictatorship

by Rockies on May 2, 2016
1 out of 5 stars

My first week moving to Vancouver I had out of province insurance. A BC resident hit my car, caused a lot of damage. ICBC would not take a look at both cars to compare and prove BC resident hit my car. They told me first to get it repaired under my insurance and then they would assess accident. After getting my car repaired under my insurance ICBC states they can not determine if BC resident was at fault. Unbelievable! I had to pay my deductible of $500 and I was not at fault.

Biggest scam in bc ever

We're supposed to have laws that stop big corporations from forcing us to buy their products or services. All I do is pay more and get less with no other option

Biggest scam in bc ever

by Johnny12345678 on Mar 28, 2016

The FastCat Ferries was a big one. Air Care was almost the biggest but ICBC takes the cake. You cannot have an efficient or fair service when there's only one choice. We're supposed to have laws that prevent this from happening. If you drive in BC, you have to buy their insurance, that's the law. If you could only buy groceries from Safeway or only get a cell phone from Telus, people would be up in arms. How's auto insurance any different? Their rate hikes will always be more than any progress you make on their 'claim-rated scale' by being a safe driver. They will hand out employee bonuses however they want with ridiculous salaries, especially to the losers up top. But don't expect anything for being a loyal customer. Pay up!
