Theft insurance

by Tkoll on Oct 23, 2017
1 out of 5 stars

I had my truck stolen and Allstate tried using a loophole in their contract by saying that because my truck was rear-ended before and even though it was with my old insurance company and fixed they refused to cover my stolen truck because they said it had a prior damage history... WHAT A JOKE they are the worst and are worse crooks then who stole my truck.

Allstate ads are false!

by Chapelparrot on Oct 7, 2017
1 out of 5 stars

Do not believe the ads that Allstate auto insurance is so great; cheaper than many others, yes... to start with. They say they won't cancel your insurance if you have a claim but I can tell you from personal experience that is false. I had a fender bender and they dropped me instantly. Lots of people think that's not a big deal, it is. When that happens and you go to the next company you're in for a surprise because once Allstate drops you, you have then been "denied insurance before" to your next company and you will either be denied insurance or you'll be classified as an ultra high risk insured and you'll pay through the nose. As an example, I paid 835 a year with Allstate. After they cancelled me, it cost me 2800 a year for 6 years after Allstate. Be very careful people.

All State worst ever

by kayvan on Sep 25, 2017
1 out of 5 stars

I am writing to express my unfair treatment from your All State regarding an accident.
I was bought my car 4 months ago, i was involve in an accident which i was not at fault, my car ride off also i paid the insurance to cover the car and passengers and the concept of insurance is to cover the loss , I was expected to compensated by them ,but this treatment absolutely doesn't make sense for someone who is not at fault and paid the insurance without interruption. they screw me $4000.
Imagine without any fault you lost your car and needs to cover the gap from your own pocket

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

Deceptive

by Fooled twice on Aug 28, 2017
1 out of 5 stars

If you have an auto quote and request a quote for a replacement or additional vehicle, they will quote you from that day until your existing renewal date. They will not tell you this nor inform you of this in any way, shape, or form until your renewal comes due. You then find out that the quote was for 4 or 6 or whatever months and not for 12 months insurance as you had mistakenly assumed. Totally unethical! Furthermore, they charge you in full for the change immediately (before you catch on to their deception) and then take the new renewal amount from your bank on a date other than your regular withdrawal date. The entire scam is all legal, and very carefully worked out to essentially sell you product that you would never agree to having known the facts. They do this to clients that have been with them for 20 years. They simply have absolutely no long-term vision. Bucks right now is all they care about. Don't give a darn about their clients.

Horrible agent & cstmr service

by Unique on Aug 8, 2017

STAY AWAY!!!!
Forget this insurance even if they give you the best lowest quote because they wont serve you at the time you need them. I was with them a year and it was horrible. My agent was "Shideh" at Markham branch and whatever I consulted with her, she wrote down in my file and sent me an official notice letter few days after. This happened twice and I got shocked and furious. I found that they're not trying to advice you and they're not your agent but a spy to receive more information from you and use it against you. Remember!

STAY AWAY

by Walking away from them on Jul 19, 2017
1 out of 5 stars

Wow! now that I had a motor vehicle accident claim with Allstate I can understand why the review scale is so utterly low!
I have never in my life received such horrible customer service as I have from my insurance agency. My claims adjuster didn't follow up with the collision centre, I had to do it. On top of everything, I left many voice messages, sent e-mail for FOUR WEEKS asking if I can go ahead with getting my car fixed and I didn't get any reply's!!!! Not only is that unprofessional but right out rude!
I asked to speak to a different adjuster since I could not ever reach my adjuster when I would call, I requested to speak to the claims department manager. The adjuster told me that the manager is not in the office and that she would e-mail him to ask him to call me, took my phone number and everything. Two days went by, no call from Manager, I called him and he told me that he was never sent that message. The whole claims department is completely dysfunctional. I have never had such a horrible experience and to be treated so terribly. I plan to file a formal complaint due to the extent of which this situation became completely absurd. If you are looking around for insurance don't choose Allstate, I will walk away from them. The WORST!

Worst Company to Ever Exist

by dnwdnwljednwlednw on Jul 13, 2017

Honestly whoever works for this company or is in charge at Allstate need to seriously improve on their customer service abilities. This company is a shame to humanity for their poor, disgusting and pathetic idiocy. Multiple times when trying to contact this company, we were told and promised a response. Three times, left in ignorance. The fourth time involved a nasty encounter with a man who honestly has zero manners and should be fired this instant. If anybody is considering this company, RUN AWAY IN FEAR. These people are bloodthirsty for money, and have absolute ZERO respect for anybody except themselves. You see those nice ratings? Probably paid to write those lies. This company should get a negative rating honestly because this is simply absurd. Very disappointed.

Disgusting customer service

by kimberclark on Jul 5, 2017

I have only been an Allstate customer for one year. Unfortuntely the car I had insured died on me 1 month after my renewal. I had informed Allstate that I was no longer driving that car and I was purchasing a new car and was given a new quote. Unfortunately that new quote was far too expensive for me to handle and they really had no explanation as to why it would be so much more money so I switched to a different company which saved me $120 per month. I spoke to a customer service rep who explained how to terminate a policy, she emailed me detailed instructions and I followed them. I also sent in written confirmation that no more monthly payments are to be withdrawn from my account. 10 days after that email was sent, a monthly payment (for a car that is six feet under!) was withdrawn from my account. I immediately called Allstate again, spoke to a different rep and he saw the mistake and told me a payment would be sent to me within 10 business days. 3 weeks later, still no payment I called back and spoke to the same agent, who then said it would 3 more weeks. His explanation was they do not yet know if the funds have cleared my account which I find to be the most ridiculous thing to ever hear. If I had not terminated my policy with them I highly doubt they need to wait 15 days after each withdrawl to see if funds are sufficient or not. I think it is very unfair that when they are given access to your account they can just withdraw whatever they want when they want. Even after having it all in writing!!!! The agents take their time in replying to your calls or concerns. I would stay as far away from this company as you can, there are much better companies to deal with than this. It really isn't even 1 star its more like -10.

Drivewise is silly. READ ON

by wombat1004 on Jun 28, 2017
3 out of 5 stars

Let me explain drivewise to you in the terms that no one tells you. Yeah you're gonna save 10%. Literally. That is all. Let me explain why. You get the 10% for signing up. Here's what they don't tell you. You plug it in, it monitors your usage. But it is not designed to monitor your actual driving skill. They base their evaluation (I know because I read the terms and conditions, which you can't read until after you sign up), on the times of day you drive. For example I was getting dinged for driving to work every day. You know why? Because I work midnights. So basically anything after 10pm is considered high risk. Same with high traffic times like when pretty much everyone drives say from 7am to 11am and also from 4pm to 7pm. So you're screwed there. Apparently it was my fault for having a midnight job...they don't care (I know because I called and complained). Also they charge you for hard braking. But nevermind that I wasn't about to hit a car, but a kid or an animal that ran out in front of me. Doesn't matter. Even if you hard brake because someone cut you off, if you drop off more than 13km in a certain amount of time you lose percent. Also you lose if you drive too much. So my gf works out of town, so she gets charged because she drives too far. It also stipulates that you have to drive your car, so you can't not drive or leave it in your driveway, you will also lose points. You can't go over 125km/h ever. That means if you are driving through Cambridge or Toronto where people go 140 at least, you'll be in the slow lane for the next 6 months. And last but not least, their site is inaccessible to log in after your period is finished. This means you cannot see your final percentage, or your overall progress. They send you an email 2 weeks after you've completed it, only to give you an average of your percentage estimate...that means it's not the actual number of percent you're going to save on renewal. Once I started driving and logged in at my 3 month review, I noticed that my percentage had dropped almost 10% even though I was a perfect driver. No hard braking, no accidents, no speeding. Yet I lost points. So I told my gf screw it, I'm just going to drive like an idiot, and when I logged in again in another month it went up 2.5%. I don't even know how any of it is explainable. This system is a joke, but if you want advice from a real driver, sign up, drive like you normally do, because at least you save 10% in the end. But do not change the way you drive. It does not make a goddamn difference. You're welcome. I wish this review was here when I signed up, because literally no one had any of this information. I hope you all drive safe, that is how you feel safe. Not how a computer tells you.

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

Auto claim

by tmj327 on May 26, 2017
1.5 out of 5 stars

Just don't even buy their product! G-d forbid you have to file a claim. I have never been treated so poorly in my whole life! I've had this insurance company for 22 years. Homeowners and auto policies. A recent wind storm damaged my classic car, so I file a claim because I can't even see out of the windshield. First I'm told just because I have insurance doesn't mean they have to fix it. What?! Then I'm called a liar because there is no way this was damaged the way I say it was. Wow, really? Just because you're a man, you think it's ok to bully a woman who is being completely honest with you about this claim. I own a classic car that I keep fully insured. So they don't want to repair it. Well, if you don't want to repair a classic car, then don't allow me to insure it. It's quite simple, I could go with another insurance company then and not have to deal with your treatment. The only other claim I filed was many years ago, and once again I was accused of lying about a break in to my home. They paid the claim (about 30% of it, that is), then continued to send me accusatory letters to be 'sure to let us know if these items magically appear'! Wow! I just can't even. If I treated people like that in my job, I would be fired immediately. But it's ok if you pay your money and don't ask for anything in return. Sounds a bit like a mafia, doesn't it?
